Today it was finally time to start the Tomos. I topped up the fuel in the tank as the carb is quite high. I turned on the fuel and it flowed into the carb so i pulled out the choke and gave it a kick. It started on the second. The revs where too high but was only the throttle cable getting caught up. All i need to do now is install the chain and foot legs and its ready for a test ride!

Rear sprocket nuts and bolts replaced
So after a little searching i found suitable replacement nuts and bolts (M7) on ebay to hold my 20T rear sprocket on.
So i knocked out the old ones and installed the new with some thread lock.
It was also time for a new rear brake cable. Mine was frayed something awful. Luckily i had two new ones in the spares box.
Ready for a ride Sinclairio!!!

Helicoil Heaven
Helicoil Heaven
So this morning I woke up with one thing on my mind, getting this head fixed. so the kit arrived yesterday and so there was nothing stopping me.
I drilled it out & tapped it with the new tap from the kit ready for the helicoil insert
the tapping was easy actually steel in alloy works like a hot knife through butter. i used the insertion tool and it worked.... like i ever doubted it...
Only downside of the kit, was the magnetic tool supplied to break off the nubbing thingy broke straight away.... obviously no expense spared in the making of this tool.
put the head back on, carb, exhaust etc and it started on the first kick #goodtimes a rolling....

Early morning ride
After the first ride with the new Homoet pipe i needed to adjust the carb as the bike was a bit boggy low end. I lowered the needle one notch and now its perfect. I got out this morning early and rode for a couple of hours as the weather was so nice. The tomos now has crazy acceleration when the pipe hits at 30mph and took me to 50mph.

I ran into a problem after about an hour of riding that one of the bolts holding the rear sprocket on worked its way loose and the nut that was inside the drum rattled around inside until it jammed the brake shoe and locked the back wheel. Luckily i had all the tools i needed with me so removed the back wheel and took the brake drum apart to remove the nut. After resembling the back end i was able to ride home but the rear sprocket will need some attention.

Here's the culprit that nearly scat me off!

Tomos disk brake
While Sinclairio is waiting for a new cylinder head i thought i would take the opportunity to mock up the Honda Sky disk brake setup that im going to fit to my tomos. Unfortunately it means i will have to loose my grimeca front wheel. But its worth it for some decent stopping power. So i mounted the wheel and looks like with very little work and a home made calliper mount i should be able to make it work.

MAD run 2
Sinclairio and i finally got both our mopeds roadworthy so decided to go for a ride. In total we covered 25miles with the puch loosing various parts along the way including its chain, air filter and carb! We had a blast and the run only ended when the Honda motor on Sinclairio's puch shot its plug. Looking forward to another ride soon.
