Peugeot Vogue Variator test ride

I got out today on the Vogue for the first time since fitting the variator. Its a bit boggy at the low end but after that it goes pretty well and the variator really increased the top speed. So I can still get up hills like with the stock single speed but able to go faster on the flat. Top speed on the flat so far 31mph

Since I converted the Vogue to a variable transmission I noticed that the engine spring was too stiff which was preventing it from variating. So I ordered a stock spring for a variated Vogue. It turned up yesterday

Last night I was messing with the variator on the Vogue and when I started up the bike it started leaking fuel from the petcock. I drained the fuel and unscrewed it from the tank. Looks like its internals were shot causing it to leak. So I measured the thread and now just need to order a new one.

A new arrival! M.A.D gets a Motobecane

Puch City test ride

Today Sinclairio and I got the Puch running almost perfectly so we took it up to the industrial estate for a test ride. Its a little ripper!!

 

 

 

 

 

Puch City HPI first start

Sinclairio bolted the E50 back onto his Puch City frame today and installed the coil. Heres a video of it running.

Sinclairios Puch City is getting an HPI and we are getting very excited about it! Can't wait to get it installed.

Peugeot Vogue motor assembly

After spending a good few hours trying to stop the new crank from binding i finally fixed the problem by centering the crank in the cases by heating them up and using a mallet to knock it into alignment.
After that, the assembly went really smoothly. I installed the 14/14 dellorto SHA carb and last of all fitted my secondhand variator.
The bike idles very well but isn't jetted correctly so doesn't want to run much above idle. Also the stock engine return spring is too stiff which is limitting variation. I finally have all the parts i need to rebuild the Peugeot engine and convert it to a variable transmission.

After a few days away i returned to find the first part for my Peugeot build has arrived. Its a TNT racing crankshaft which is longer than my stock vogue crank to enable me to install a variator! Can't wait to get started once all the parts arrive.
