Peugeot 103 Engine stabilizer

After seeing how much vibration the bike had while running I knew I needed to stabilize the engine. Its important the the engine doesnt swing at all or the rear variator wont work as it should.
It turned out to be an easy fix. I used a bit of scrap metal to joint the frame to the exhaust mount and its super rigid now.

Peugeot 103 running video

So after installing the kill switch and fixing the exhaust problem I got the Peugeot running and took a short video.
As you can see there's a fair bit of vibration especially at low revs. I still haven't made the engine stabilizer to stop it swinging. I'll do that next.

Peugeot 103 kill switch

I had to order a kill switch for the 103 as the new kit doesnt have a decompression plug. I got it fitted today and it was pretty straight forward. At least now I can stop it!

Simonini exhaust springs

When my Simonini exhaust arrived it had a separate flange that bolted to the engine and the exhaust had a wider diameter to fit over the top. It was supplied with two springs that were meant to hold there two parts together. The exhaust had two little hooks to attach the springs but the flange had nothing. I found out the hard way that not using the springs turned the exhaust into a projectile. Anyway I drilled a couple of holes in the bolt on flange so I had something to hook the springs on and it seems to work.

Rear mudguard fitted

The lacquer on the rear mudguard that I painted had dried so I got it fitted today. I'll have to remove it again once im ready to install the rear light.

Airsal h20 kit plumbed in!

Today I got the new kit plumbed in on the peugeot. I was just one jubilee clip short so I wasnt able to fill it with coolant. Looking forward to seeing how this thermo syphon setup works.

Simonini exhaust installed

Today I got the Simonini exhaust fitted. I had to knock it about a bit to make it fit. But its on and I like the look of it.

Peugeot 70cc h20 first start

Today I started the Peugeot for the first time since installing the new kit.
I couldn't get the bike to start by peddling as the clutch wouldn't engage I suspected that the compression was quite high and because it hadn't been started before the new causing extra friction inside the cylinder. I used a drill with a socket adapter on the flywheel and it started straight up. I didn't let it run too long as I haven't plumbed in the radiator yet. But after this initial start I was then able to peddle start the engine.

Peugeot 103 drive belt

Since fitting the dual variated swing arm the drive belt is too long as the rear pulley is smaller. I went to the local auto parts store and bought two new belts one was 825mm and the other was 800mm. The smaller of the two fits perfectly.

Peugeot 103 shocks

Finally I managed to get hold of some rear shocks of suitable length. They are the same as the last set only 305mm long. The bikes really coming together next I need to get hold of a new drive belt thats slightly shorter than stock.

Peugeot headlamp brackets

I ordered some new headlamp brackets as the current ones were off a bigger bike and were too long and didnt fit the forks very well. They look much better I think.

Peugeot 103 intake

I ordered I new intake for the 103 as mine was at the wrong angle. When it arrived I removed the old one and took a picture side by side so show their different angles (new to the right). I had to use a plastic shim to get the intake to match the carb. I used a polini reed valve when I bolted the intake down. The engine bolted back on the the frame and now there's room for the carb.

Dellorto PHBG 2 stroke atomizer, Bush, needle, shim

Yesterday my new parts for my PHBG carb arrived. I ordered a 2 stroke replacement atomizer and bushing as I discovered my carb had the 4 stroke versions. I also ordered a W7 needle and a carb mounting shim.
The second picture shows the two sets of atomizers and there bushings. 2 stroke (left) 4 stroke (right).
