Peugeot Vogue test ride

Today i took the Peugeot for its first test ride since installing the new forks and disc brake. It slightly bogged on take off but then got up to speed nicely. The ride was much smoother with the new forks and the disc brakes stopping power is unbelievable. It must stop in half the distance of the old drum brake. I think the weight of the beefy new forks and the luggage box has affected its ability to climb hills. Next up i need to look at increasing performance.

Magnum X jetting etc

So today i had two things to do on the Magnum X. First was to fit the rear mudgaurd as i got caked in mud last time i rode it. Secondly i need to down jet the carb as the plug looked way too rich and the bike bogged at three quarter throttle. It turns out that the jet i was using was the the second smallest and the one smaller was way smaller. I drilled out the smaller jet so it was only slightly smaller that the original jet. Will have to see if this is any better or i will need some more jets.

Magnum X swing arm adjustment

After reinstalling the C70 engine on the Magnum X. The chain started jumping off the sprocket. I tightened the chain but this didn't solve the issue. It turns out that although the 10mm swingarm axle was the right size for the swing arm where it mounted on the frame the hole is 12mm. That play in the swing arm was causing the chain to jump. I made up a metal sleeve and Boom no more chain jump!

Peugeot Vogue mudguard bracket!

The old attachments for the front mudguard no longer fitted as the new forks are wider than the old ones. So i made up a new set of brackets with some metal i had. I used some rubber washers to mount the mudguard to hopefully cut down on vibration.

Peugeot Vogue axle!

I fitted a new axle today its one from a pit bike 210mm x 10mm. The front wheel is now nice an tight with no play.

Magnum X up and running again!

I got the Puch Magnum up and running again today buy ditching the dirty old carb and using a Mikuni VM22 Clone i had in the spares box.
I still need to replace the throttle cable and adjust the idle and jetting but it started right up so heres a quick video.

New innertube and front tyre!

Today a new innertube arrived so i installed it on the disc wheel with a semi-slick tyre. I also used spacers to centralize it on the axle. I still need to pick up some more bolts for the caliper.

Peugeot Vogue disc brake!

So after i discovered that my new forks had a disc brake mount i just had to order a caliper. It arrived today!
The mounting bracket held the caliper too close to the axle which meant to disk was too big so i flipped the mount and with a little modification it seems to fit perfectly.
Heres a couple of shots with it mounted up. I have no experience with disc brakes so will have to learn as i go.

Peugeot Vogue Hydraulic forks!

Today the forks i won on the French Ebay arrived. They are far more sturdy that the stock forks. As a bonus they also have a caliper mount for a disk brake set up which i will look into in the future. They bolted onto the frame without any issues. I do need to get a longer axle as they are wider than the old forks. I offered up a disk brake wheel to see how it looked.

While i wait for my new peugeot forks to arrive i thought i would reinstall the C70 motor on the Magnum X frame. I had to make a new engine mount as one had disappeared.

They Always had a death trap to sorn,

They tried all the tricks,

Moped Treasure!

Replacement bars for Peugeot Vogue

So after removing the forks i was looking at replacements online and realised that i would need to change the bars as i intend to upgrade the forks the old bars won't fit. Luckily i had the perfect set in the spares box so i gave them a clean and mounted the controls ready to install when i get some forks.

Peugeot Vogue fork removal!

I had a day off so thought i would remove these knackered forks from the peugeot. Here are a few pics of the process.

Problem with the Peugeot

After fitting the luggage box today i noticed that the front wheel wasn't quite straight in the forks. When i untightened the wheel nuts the right fork leg sprang down while the left one stayed in place. It turns out the left fork leg is bent and jammed up. Looks like Im gonna need a new set.

Peugeot Vogue luggage box

Today i decided to fit a luggage box to the peugeot as its going to be my daily ride. It took me a bit of time to mark out the holes for the brackets but mounted up and looks good.

Wishes for 2013!

Getting the puch ready for spring!

Now that both my Tomos and peugeot are on the road Sinclairio has got this crazy idea that he wants his puch working too. So today he removed the 4 stroke pit bike motor and installed the rebuilt E50. Jobs still to do are clean and fit the carb and intake, install new stator when it arrives, check the breaks, install chain, and finally connect the kill switch.
While this is going on i can make a start on fixing up the puch magnum scrambler.

I took the peugeot for MOT today. It went straight through. Here's a shot of it loading on the truck and also in the test bay.
